1. Nei Jiang Hotel (內江商旅) / TS Hotel (大順大飯店)
My first choice was actually TS Hotel. It is slightly more expensive than Nei Jiang , but just by looking at the pictures on their website, i was won over. However they are fully booked (Note that i called 2 months in advance). From what i know, they are beside each other (but i don’t see it when i’m there). Anyway, I was happy with my choice…Nei Jiang.
Reservation:
I heard that the toilet door was made of glass. Although they say that the glass is partially covered.. you wouldn’t want to risk it do you. (I am not taking any chances for my friend to see me naked butt and vice versa! )
When i called them to make the reservation, i requested for a room with ”Wooden/solid toilet door“. They will know what you mean. Reservation is based on TRUST. You need not provide any other info except your Name, Date of arrival, No. of stays, No of pax. Most Taiwan hotel practice this trust booking. It is a wonderful world isn’t it…that things can be done “so easily”. HENCE, if you decided to change your mind and book another hotel please have the courtsy to call and tell them that you would like to cancel, so that you can make way for those on the waiting list.
Nei Jiang does not have an E-mail address. Currently, they only accept phone booking (for overseas). Re-confirm your reservation pior to you reaching. It’s good to make sure.
If you are a Chinese speaking, it can save you a lot on IDD if you speak to the recept in that language. Both of you will be grateful. 
Room:
We booked a room for 3 person. An additional bed was being set up. The toilet seems to be bigger than the room itself and the cupboard was placed inside the toilet (weird eh). Though it is very small but I liked the room. The furnitures are looking new and hence everything looks Clean.
Location wise is good. It is in Xi Men Ding. Although it is not in the HEART of XMD… it is a mere 3 mins walk to the station. Just need to get the direction right. Beside the hotel there is a Post Office, so you can ship things back if you are overloaded !
Breakfast was sandwich and a pack of juice. It is simple and nice! I kind of like it. (The sandwich is the same everyday but juice will be different. They will ask the time that you would want your breakfast and they will hang it outside your door)

2. Rainbow Hotel （長虹大飯店）
This is a very popular hotel in Taipei. Located in the heart of Xi Men Ding. The location is 2 thumbs up. Sometimes artist will hold their autograph session right outside the hotel.
Personally, i don’t quite like the room. Everything was old. The painting on the wall was corny and the room was not sound proof enough. But the triple room we were given was quite big.
Breakfast was miserable.
If you are looking for a hotel in a good location and nothing else. Here, Rainbow is your best bet !

I saw this hotel during my trip, East Dragon Hotel. It is suitated very close by to Rainbow which makes it “near the heart”. In fact, just one street across and you are in the heart. hah.
I don’t know about the room as i’ve not stayed there. But i think the hotel has a Local Tour reservation counter.. which will come in handy if you are looking to travel to different spots.
