Edit 30 Jan 10 : Oakwood Shinjuku will cease operation as of 31 Jan 10. Very sad : (
Here i am as promised…okay, perhaps nobody is anticipating anyway. Haha !
Oakwood Apartment Shinjuku
i did A LOT of research before deciding on staying here. I asked around and the hotels that people are recommending me are either too expensive or too erm…budget looking. I am not a 5 star person, but as least the photos i see on the hotel’s website got to be convincing lah.. So i went to my favourite website aka travel advisory which is none other than Trip Advisor (click on the link to go directly to the Tokyo Forum) .
I read the reviews left by travellers and i am bought over immediately. It read like a 5/5 star place to stay.
1 concern that most people had: It is not a stone throw away from the JR Station. The walk is about a good 7 mins.
Oakwood is a Service Apartment and not a hotel. They have this rule of “min 30 days stay” (long term lease) but i think when they are not full they will open it to short stays.
Unlike a hotel, they do not have a “Tour Counter” where you can book day tours from. It’s okie, you can book from JTB. But then there is no pick-up service at the apartment, you have to walk to a hotel that has pick up. The hotel i choose to be picked-up is at Keio Plaza Hotel. IT WAS LIKE FREAKING FAR CAN ! i almost cried walking -_-
Anyway, Oakwood can help you to book the tour from Sunrise if you like.
Oh…and because it is near to a train tracks, sometimes you can hear train go pass…it can be quite noisy if you stay on the lower levels.
The best thing is the lounge on the 32rd floor. It is soooooooo beautiful and super classy. And also there are 2 computers in the basement for visitors, i use that quite a lot but during the “peak hour” it is pretty occupied.

Before going, i had countless sleepless nights over HOW TO GET TO OAKWOOD APARTMENT FROM SHINJUKU STATION (after i alight from NARITA EXPRESS)
I left my question in most if not all travel forums that i registered on. But the replies were often vauge (eg: after alighting you turn right and see a yellow sign and you turn left again walk 6 steps and turn to your right…) You know what i mean. Anyway, like a light to my life…i found a blog which later proved to be my life saviour

i looooove the kichenette !!! ^^ not that i cook anything but it is so lovely. When i opened my main door, i will first see the kictchen. Following the kitchen is the room.

The room. Sorry, but i am really not doing any justice to the room by not switching on the lights. The bed is VERY TINY. It is like a super single but bigger but smaller than Queen size. It is just nice for me alone. nothing else. There's even a VCD/DVD player !!Here comes my fav part of the apartment : The bathroom !

i spend about 2 hours in there everyday
