Sun Moon Lake – Laurel Ville ( 日月潭 – 桂月村 )
I found Laurel Ville through the popular rave about in forums. Usually, i will e-mail them and see how they respond. Very often, from their reply you can gauge what type of attitude that person has.
I threw many questions at them and their reply to me was always more than 1 page long ! Haha… it goes to show that they are very passionate about what they’re doing. I was merely asking questions, i haven’t even confirm booking and yet they went all out to help me with my questions. 
So after exchanging a few e-mails, i was won over by their hospitality. Oh, you may write to them in English…but their reply will be in Chinese.
He gave me a detailed explaination on how to go Sun Moon Lake from Tai Chong.
★ Taking bus services from Taichung to Sun Moon Lake ★
Currently, there are 2 companies running buses from Taichung (via Puli and Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village) to Sun Moon Lake directly. One way trip takes approximately 2~2.5hours. The alighting point is Shueishe Visitors Center.

Do check the timing of the bus. You have to be at the designated bus stop on time. There may be some taxi drivers touting their service. No matter how tempting they sounded, i suggest you to reject them politely

Okok, don’t panic. Here is the translation: “Between these 2 bus compaines, i would suggest you to take Nantou bus (from HSR station) because of the frequency and that the condition of the bus is newer”
“我们位于日月潭最主要精华地点，所以不论您们是以何种方式来到日月潭，只要是搭乘公共交通工具前来的游客，都会是在日月潭的水社游客中心前下车（旁边有日月潭警察局和消防队），下车后再步行约400公尺（约3～5分钟），即可抵达我们桂月村民宿。”
“This is to remind you that, we are located at a prime spot in Sun Moon Lake, so as long as you took the public bus service, you will alight at ShuiShe Visitor Centre. After alighting, you will walk for about 400m (about 3-5 mins) and you will reach Laurel Ville.
“其实，日月潭的马路很简单，不像都市那样复杂，就只有三条道路而已啦！呵呵～～（中山路、名胜街和中兴路，这三条道路）
It is not that difficult to find. The re are only 3 main road in SML.
Along the way, we saw many min su which look reasonably nice from the outside. They will try to intro you to stay with them by offering their attractive rates. Just continue walking.
Upon reaching, we were greeted by smiley faces~ The host, Mr Wang explained to us the “house rules”…for 20 mins. Haha..he knows that he is lor so. When we saw the room, we realised why he was so precaution against his things. Eg: he mentioned not to place our luggages/bags on the floor. Reason being, the flooring is wooden, it can be easily scratched.
He also mentioned that because SML is a quiet/peaceful place, a motorcycle going pass can be the most irritating/loud sound. In short, asks us to behave oursleves and refrain from being crazy.

Our room for 4. Very Clean. Furnitures were obviously taken care off.
View from our window. You can wake up early (like 5am) to catch the famous sun rise of Sun Moon Lake. But whether or not you can see it, depends on luck. We did wake up before 5am (with our eyes 3/4 closed) but it does not matter because we did not manage to catch the sun set.

Nevertheless, we managed to catch the sunset.
We took the “Boat Tour” to the outer island of Sun Moon Lake. You can book the ticket with Laurel Ville. I recommend you to do that! it is really fun. A very quiet peaceful place…
We had our dinner in Laurel Ville !
Previously, we had walked into some “Wanton eatery” and were being chopped like carrot cake. Later , we were warned by the host that there are some shops/eatery we should avoid. The advice came too late. Kwa kwa !
At the last minute, we told the host that we would like to have dinner at their place (i know what you’re thinking. it’s not free lah) It was really last minute but they agree without any hesitation and ask us to come back 15 mins later. 15 mins later…we came back and were quickly urshed into the dinning room. This is what we saw… WHAT A SPREAD ! Tears would have rolled down if i did not control myself. The dinner was totally scrumptious can ! The vegetables were the freshest it can get, i think they grew it themselves. I will say that it is Organic.
In the midst of dinner, Mr Wang kept asking us if we need a refill. OMG, it is as good as it looks lah.
Wait till you know how much we paid for these.

We were not the only guests that stayed there. In fact, they were “full house”. During the night, there is nothing much you can do. The street is dead very quiet, nothing is opened. (Oh, there is a 7-11 nearby)
Trust me, you don’t want to risk walking to the dock and try to be all romantic. It is freaking D.A.R.K for god sake.
The whole family send us out the next morning. The grandma and the wife of Mr Wang were reallllly friendly as well. ^^ it is no doubt that they are the best in Sun Moon Lake.
